well.. i've been thinking...

... are we HUMANS driving ourselves to our ends?
~
With all the issues of climate changes and pollution problems, it is, sadly to say, inevitable to admit that is truly the fact now... From the pace i'm observing, the progress is so small, its insignificant. I'm not saying tt all are not concerned (of cos there will be recalcitrants), but i think we are not doing enuf!! well.. for my part, my family had started using our own reusable shopping bags, recycling watever fit for recycling, not using plastics cutleries wherever possible... even the cardboard egg trays u see in supermarkets, we reuse those when we buy eggs... and there are a few more but i tink tts enuf said on the part of it...
~
Well the above mentioned things aren't hard to do, let alone affect ur everyday lifestyle... However, thru these little actions, if done together, and with fervour, it can create a hell lot difference...
~
Wat do u think guys?

Hmmm... sumthing i saw today...

... on train during my journey home today....

Ok... as u can see here... 2 guys (yellow arrows)are standing, or rather leaning on the horizontal bar in the supposedly space for wheel chair bound ppl... then after one stop, one elderly lady on a wheel chair (red arrow)accompanied by her helper wheels into the cabin... well in fact, there was another guy on wheelchair who wheeled in as well... but there was was only space for one.. well tts not the issue

The issue is, i tell u, is tt the two creatures, commonly known as indians scientifically known as Buggerios Bastardion Fuckilitis, did not even budge to allow the elderly lady's wheel chair to 'park' at the designated space... in the end, the two wheel chairs were occupying a big portion of space... not very nice right?

Now compare this photo, after the guys had alighted.....

Looks better right?

Korean food...

... is wat i had for dinner in Furama Hotel last night!! yum!! and all thanks to florence and her mum!!!

Thanks Florence!! thanks Auntie!!! =D

Woah... the food was splendid... the taste kinda brought me back to the time when we were in Korea la...

Hmmm... was kinda suprised when we were required to take off our shoes to enter the room where the guys are already seated (Flo & Rong and Chye)... I and jeremy were a little late, you see... (... but due to jams!!! Argh!).... We both went frm sch...

and so we took our shoes off and went in... and oh my, wat a comfortable setting for an eating place!! haha... the room is lightly painted, giving the room a soft texture. and the table is a very low, so i thot " oh man... i need to kneel!?" but i was delightfully wrong... there was this pit under the table for us to put our legs in... so even though the table was low, we were kinda sitting upright.... the table level was jus nice... COMFY COMFY COMFY!! lol...

Laid out on the table was small dishes of korean starter food... not forgetting KIMCHI... and it was DELICIOUS!! I and Jeremy were like whacking la... And not long after, Dinner was served...

The Side dishes

First, was a raw meat dish... there is this mini stove with pan for u to fry ur meat with.... there were onions and mushrooms to further enhance the taste of ur meat... there were chicken and pork... and we haf the privelege of having our meat stir fried by our very own chef florence... hoho! Oh tell u the end results are mouth watering la... the meat was well marinated and the flavour was rich!!

The frying pan

ME eating the pan fried meat!!

A BBQ-ed fish came next.. according to florence... the fish used is called GREEN FISH... and it has many good nutrients for our body... haha... and so we were like tearing the fish up... lolx the flesh was supple and fragrant... and also well marinated... got tt smokey taste...

then in came a DIY dish... Bosum Kimchi... it was heavenly... the big slices of pork and the fresh cabbages... with oyster!!! need i say more?

Bosum kimchi

next came the soup!! It was spicy and fragrant... to add to the eating experience... ramen was added... and thanks again for flo, who helped cook it...

And lastly, the king of them all!!!! TEMPURA WAS SERVED!!! It was beyond description can.. it was HUGE!! and ultra CRISPY!! too bad for rong and jeremy, who were allergic to prawns... they can only look :P

Was owned by this!

hmmm...

Not too long ago, in fact jus on monday... as i was flipping thru the newspaper (once again), i saw an article " How did it all get so competitive?"

Upon reading, I was sumhow delighted.... that finally i see an article which expressed so close to how i felt... =D anyway it is in conjunction of the recent case of an undergrad hacking into his former JC's comp sys to check out his peers' exams scores...

In the article, these were a few sub titles in the article.... and damn, how true!!!

~

"Born to compare"

This part says abt we are kinda borned to be comparing ourselves to others... In schs, we are being sorted out into gifted, elite, special, express, normal. Thus as life goes on, reality sets in, we tend to compare with each other's abilities more and more... So much so, to us, comparing is self - affirming. Hmm.. You see? we are all guilty of that right? And subconciously we are adding pressure to ourselves, dun u think? Oh i like the last sentence of this part "But maybe we shld compare objectively and never forget to love ourselves"

~

"Family Pressure"

Hmm.. this part is a part i believe we all went thru, maybe even till now its still gg on? Well during famly reunions, when ur aunts get together, u see them starting to ask qns like "where are u studying now?" 'Hows ur Result in the recent exams?"... how irritating right? this is jus ok... can u still remember when u were younger? haha even ur spelling results in sch can be a questionable subject... only one thing i can add... and tt is STOP PRESSURING US LIKE TT!! WE DUN LIKE IT!!!

~

"Know your enemy"

Like the chinese philosopher Sun zi said :"Know your enemy and know yourself"... Yes, life is like a battlefield where only the fittest survive. Since young, we were told to be No. 1, first in class, first in this, best in that.. lower than tt, u'll be scrutinised. And all these while, we are in a constant state of competing. And as our Govt encourages the in flow of foreign talents, our competition for a place in this working society intensifies...

But ironically, it is this competition tt is crucial for our economy to be on the cutting edge. thus, it is inevitable for one to refer back to one of sun zi's teachings albeit old but still very much applicable to our lives, tt we must know our own capability and where we stand in comparison to others. How true..

~

"Competition can get tiring"

In this part, it quotes author Richard Dawkins's words in his book, The Selfish Gene : "To a survivial machine, another survival machine of its own kind is an obstacle." True... Why do we humans compete? The ans is, inevitably, to survive. But its mentally draining and tiring isn't it? hmmm... i'm sure u've encountered this : u get ur exams results, and ur frens come over and start asking how u fared. And u wonder whats their intentions by posing such a question and will they be laughing at u behind ur back if ur results are poorer than them? Such thots are demoralising and it dilutes the bond of friendships. To end i wld like the last sentance of this part, "Rivalries can benefit in some ways, but only if the individual has the maturity to set his own goals and not succumb to hyper-competitiveness"

~

"Rethink education System"

hmmm.. the last part... hehe... ok this part spks abt the education system... We aspire to be a education hub so we attract foreign students by offering quality education... Ultimately, the aim of educatiion should be to produce dynamic, upright and confident individuals tt value morality as well as academic performance. However, thru years of education, unknowingly, may haf made students, local and foreigners alike, to haf a over-competitive character. Having insecurities reassured only by knowing one's ranking in this never-ending race...Healthy competition can be good for us, but overdoing it may jus be doing more harm than good. "A good education system allows students to recognisetheir limitations, while capitalising on their strengths. Perhaps it is time for a rethink of the system." says the last paragrapgh.

Well, i despise meritocracy... It is not fair to those who are less capable... they are not entirely useless!! >=(

well... a large chunk's been said... feel free to read =D
(oh ya, they were written by students aged 19 to 21yrs... beautiful writings by them! bravo!)

Well today also re-watched the Korean movie "A Moment to Remember"...

Watch this... saddest part of the movie...

看着, 看着, 我流泪了.... 这一次, 我也哭了...
(trust me... i was as teary as him.. lolx)

The Gear House Part 3 (Final)

So... Wat say you? I'll leave tt to u to tink...

Haha... so let me continue... Jus a tad bit more.... ;)
~

this place has an unique weather... It can be sunny at one moment, only to be raining the next... its unpredictable...

With such unpredictabilty, an aura of uncertainty surrounds the facility.... thus affecting, yes u've guessed it, the pulsating activity in the gear house and the Guy every now and then....

With that.. i've decided to put this descriptive narration to an end... or else it will go on and on...

~

Think u guys must be very curious as in why i will write such description?

Well... my frens, u haf jus had a glimpse on a small part of my so called 'inner world'... in simple words, my mind....

Strange huh?

To haf such peculiar setting for my thots...

Well since young i like to imagine things, i can sit at a place and then let my 'mental theatre' take me to places..... And this gear house is the compilation of such places... abit here and there.... and it is still growing and changing...

Thanks for reading thus far.... appreciate it.. :)

The Gear House Part 2

~

Yes... it is never quiet in this intriguing place....

However no matter how noisy it might be... it has a certain peace to it, so much so, its close to zen...

With rows after rows of turning gears and mechanisms all working by itself, a strange yet fascinating melody is orchestrated...

.
All these, the Guy listens....

.
Hmmm.. did i mentioned bells by the wall?

.
.
...Well, things dun always go the way they wan... things do happen to the gears...
.
.
The rows of mechanisms are divided into various function groups... with bells assigned to each of the function groups. This facility has no ceiling, you see... So once in a while, something will drop from above and into the gears... either causing major or minor malfunctions.... Depending on the sections affected, the bells linked to these sections will then wail into life...
.
It is the responsibility of the Guy to see to the problem and solve it... But strangely, somehow not all problems were attended to....
.
I am sure that u remember the place is linked to the Guy? Yes... sumtimes, these gears 'talk' to him, in fact, the guy actually feels what the facility feels or vice versa... Thus for sum reasons, the Guy, sumtimes, chooses not to solve it.
.
.
.
"Perhaps sumtimes, there are problems that even myself cannot solve?"
.
"Will they even turn after i'd fixed them?
.
... the Guy wondered
.
I know its hard to believe, facilities are not living things, they cannot feel...
.
....So what say you, if i say its all in the mind??

The Gear House Part 1

Guys, envision this....

~

A place filled with revolving gears, all turning in unison, filling the air with ticks and tocks, pings and pangs, ding and dongs.... An intertwined system of steam pipes spreads across the whole facility, powering it, making sure the gears are constantly engaging..... Once in a while, a bell by the wall will ring incessantly, signalling any peculiar activity that might happen within the complex system of gears...
.
.
.
.
.
.
All but a vile place it might seem ....
.... a lone guy ovesees the operation of the facility quietly, a guy linked to this place emotionally and physically...
.
.
.
.
.
.
.... in other words, if this place dies, he dies...

Oooh...

Flipped opened the STRAITS TIMES this morning, as i was going thru the head lines on the first page, i came across an article on KPE (Kallang Paya Lebar Expressway), and the head line read : "Laser Cameras catch 3,400 motorists speeding on KPE"

hmmm ok.. apparently the speed limit for KPE is 70kmh. (Guys take note.. dun get caught)... The figure given were clocked during the first 6 days of its opening. Of the bunch, 45 were caught exceeding 110kmh.. haha... all thanks for the new shiny cameras installed in the tunnel - Laser Cameras. Said to be highly accurate and needs no film to operate, not forgetting tt its first-of-its-kind, it will be there to 'shoot' any unsuspecting speedy gonzales tt might zip pass..

And yes... summonses will be issued ($$$) thereafter... lolx...

Sian...

Tired..

Hmmm..

after having like 5 driving lessons.... i haf arrived at a conclusion....

Driving is a very tiring matter...

Haha.. yea.. driving requires u to be alert at all times and always keep ur attention on the road... furthermore the clutch and accelerator movements.. aiyo.. so troublesome... can't wait to pass my TP and drive my dad's AUTO car.. XD

Oh ya recently, I came across a news involving 3 british tourists bullying an elderly trishaw rider... Omg.. its infuriating to see lor... After sum tough cycling by the elderly rider, the 3 buggers dismounted the trishaw and attempted to bargain for a price of $5 when the cost of the ride is already at a low low price of $10! wah lao.. they haf the money to pay for the air ticket yet they can't pay tt mere 10?? Anyway after which, according to the news, they left without paying the elderly gentleman, ... and to add to the irony, THEY F****** TOOK A TAXI!!!

How sad there are such ppl in this world??

"There are some ppl in this world jus becos its illegal to shoot them"

hmmm jus in case u guys dunno --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KB_GoQ-h9Zg click on the link to watch.

Hmmm... Do u have any regrets in life?

i'm sure u do, jus tt how much is it tt mattered... Right?

well.. I do haf a few major regrets in life ( nt in chrono order):

  1. Head Crashed my way into engineering course in poly where i could haf been in the Digital media design... (which is my interest :/ )
  2. Not putting enuf effort in studying during secondary sch time...
  3. Not maintaining my size when i got quite trim and fit during NS
  4. Being naive in looking for a partner (Now i'm stuck in between 2 girls whom i both haf feelings for)

Well yea.. there u haf it... haiz.. sad right?

Well wat i can say now is, sum serious damage been done to my esteem and self - confidence... but i will try to get back on my feet, jus tt i need time and ample encouragement...

Peeps, Wish me luck.. =D
